22 November 1476: Letters of summons under the Signet at the instance of John of Swyntoune of that ilk, Kt, against Patrik of Hammilton, son to the laird of Innerwick, and Patrik of Smeton, who had come to the lands of Cranschawis with their accomplices in disobedience of the King's letters and taken away with them two horse, and loosing two - ordaining the restoration of the said horses and summoning the said Patriks to compear. At Edinburgh. 28 Nov, Simon Spardur, sheriff, travelled to Dunbar and delivered two horses taken from Cranschawis by Patrick Hamilton and Patrick Smeton to the tenants, and the other two horses that were borrowed. Patrick Hamilton was summoned at Dunbar Castle before Symon Salman and John of Hebburn, and Patrik of Smeton at his dwelling place, to compear at Edinburgh or wherever required on the 8th January to answer the above charges.
