About Patrick Rufus Hourigan
Patrick Hourigan was born in Ireland in 1760. He moved to Virginia, playing the fiddle to pay for his passage.
He served for three years in Captain Gabrial Long’s Rifle Corps, under the command of Daniel Morgan. After serving his term, Patrick Hourigan was discharged on the 7th of August, 1779. He owned ten slaves.
Patrick Hourigan married Winna or Winnifred Arnold on the 30th of April, 1787 in Mercer County, Kentucky. Together, they had six children. Patrick Hourigan died on the 12th of April, 1819.
