Patsy Lorrine Ackelson

Patsy L. (Morand) Ackelson, 79 of Fort Collins, past away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 17th.Patsy was born in Topeka, KS and lived there until moving to Denver, CO. in 1937, graduating from Wheat Ridge H.S. in1945. From there she went to work for Kaiser, making 8 in. shells for the Navy. In 1946 she and her family moved to a farm in La Porte, CO. There she met a returning Navy Veteran, William Ackelson, who became her husband in 1947. They were married 50 happy years and were sealed to each other for eternity at the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple, in 1983. Through the years, Patsy worked for Safeway Grocery stores in Denver and Fort Collins. Eventually settling back in La Porte where she became a Food Stamp supervisor for Larimer County; she and Bill also owned and operated the Overland mobile home park.Patsy was active in her church including serving in the church library. She was a country music fanatic, especially when it came to George Straight. She loved bowling, dancing, waterskiing, rodeos, trips to Blackhawk, and traveling with her husband in their RV. She was a bright spirit, loving wife, devoted mother. She will be missed.Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Bill, father George Morand, mother Ada (Weber)Morand, sisters Eloise Bowles and Alvira Shearston. She is survived by her four sons, Dennis, Robert, Marty and Gary, sister Norma Gerrard, 14 grand children and 9 great grand children.Viewing will be at the Allnutt Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 21, from 4pm - 8pm. Memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6521 Carmichael St., at 11am on Wednesday, August 22.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W.
