About Patsy Ruth Nelson

Patsy Ruth Mingo Nelson passed away and was reunited with her dear husband on July 26, 2013. She was surrounded by her loving family and met by more on the other side. Patsy was born on August 23, 1927, and lived her whole life in the Chubbuck area. She is the daughter of Stewart Alfred and Vera Mingo and the middle sister to Mary and Louise Mingo. She shared a very special relationship with her sisters and they lived side by side with each other since 1973 on the Yellowstone Highway. On November 25, 1944, she married her childhood friend and neighbor, the love of her life Ralph Nelson. Together they raised an amazing family of tight knit brothers and sisters. Patsy had the privilege of staying at home and raising her 10 children. She taught them how to cook and clean and love unconditionally. She was an amazing example and loved to serve her family. She made delicious fried chicken, homemade cakes and pies that her legacy will continue to recreate for years to come. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the Relief Society and in Primary for many years and always had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. On April 12, 1997 Patsy and Ralph went, with their children to the Idaho Falls Temple where they were sealed for eternity.

Patsy spent much of her time sewing, crocheting, and quilting for her children and grandchildren. Every one of her 40 grandchildren received a handmade baby blanket from her and even some of her 105 great grandchildren. She spent time in the summer at their cabin in Island Park. Ralph and the grand kids would catch the fish and Patsy would fry them up for everyone to enjoy. They spent many of their winters in Arizona enjoying the sunshine, catching up on good books and working on crafts. She lived in service to her family and enjoyed every minute of it. She leaves a legacy of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will never forget the traditions she taught them, the gifts she made them and the love she showed them.

She is survived by her children: Stewart (Cindy) Nelson, Inkom, Idaho; Rose Mary (Robert) Johnson, West Valley, Utah; Ron (Betty) Nelson, Farmington, Missouri; Bonnie (Richard) Weaver, DeSoto, Missouri; Patti (Rick) Armstrong, West Jordan, Utah; Vera (Kendall) Clark, Erie, Colorado; Jan (Dennis) Hill, Post Falls, Idaho, Doug Neilsen, Terry Briscoe, her sister Louise Mingo, Chubbuck, Idaho; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Nelson, daughters Terry Neilsen and JoAnne Briscoe, her son Craig Nelson, two grandsons Stewart Jr. and Kutter Mingo Nelson, her sister Mary Nelson and her parents.
