About Peder Svensson Kart

Enobled by King Gustav Vasa 7 May 1556, whereby he received a coat of arms depicting a black Anchor with a yellow Anchorstock, against a blue background. One source says there are two yellow stars above the anchor. This coat of arms was evidently adopted by his nephew Lasse Bothvidsson d.y. and Lasse's son Bothvid Larsson d.y. who apparently was the first to call himself Anckar. Later Erich Olufsen Ancker had a protrait painted with this swedish coat of arms in the background. His descendants who later successfully petitioned for Danish/Norwegian nobility status based on their kinship to the Anckars of Agnhammar used the spelling of Anker and had a similar family crest with an upright anchor against a red background.
