Please find below the descent of the Tempests of Cranbrook from the family of Holmside (Durham) via Oxfordshire and Whaddon (Cambs). To the best of my knowledge!

Robert Tempest of Holmside (attainted treason 1569) mar. Margaret daughter of Thomas Lentall of Lachford (Oxon) William Tempest(4th son of above) mar.Elizabeth dau of William Moore of Hadham (Oxon) Thomas Tempest(2nd son of above) of Whaddon (Cambs) died 17/Oct/1644 aged 53 Whaddon mar. Martha dau. William Wylmot of Charleton nr. Wantage (Berks) Robert Tempest (son of above) Citizen and Goldsmith of London , acquired lands in Cranbrook (Kent) died 7/11/1673 mar.Mary Horneblow William Tempest (1st son of above) b. 5/10/1660 died 31/12/1702 of the Inner Temple London lawyer.Prothonotary of the Common Pleas bur Whaddon aged 42. mar.Elizabeth dau of John Cooke of Cranbrook bur. Whaddon 15/3/1701a ged 42. Willam Tempest(1st son of above) b.21/4/1682 Christ Church and St Leonard Foster London. Of Whaddon (Cambs) and Shepherds in Cranbrook (this was a house) died 15/8/1761 aged 79. Buried Bodiam. mar.Elizabeth dau of Sam. Hyland and Rebecca of Bodiam Sussex 6/6/1707 . Died 1/11/1774 aged 88 William Tempest (1st son of above) + (*) of Shepherds b.29/3/1708 died 2/1784 mar.Elizabeth Longley of Chatham (1736) John Tempest (only surviving child of 5 obs inf of above) . Of Shepherds b.4/1747 liv.1819 mar. Sarah Foster of Angmoring Sussex.

• Penelope 14th and youngest child b.6/8/1733 . mar.1755 Abraham Whittaker (not sure of where) Willam dy Penelope mar George Fenney Elizabeth dy Abraham mar Miss Cam of Hereford Diana Anne mar James Hamlyn of Devon and had son James Hamlyn , John Hamlyn mar. Miss Mary Garbett and daus. Charlotte Maria mar Lord Rous and had six chidren and Mariane mar eldest son of Sir Thomas Gooch. I hope that this helps.
