Mrs. Penina E. MARTIN passed away at the residence of her

daughter, Mrs. J. A. TAYLOR, 2502 East 93rd street, Chicago, Ill., Tuesday,

June 10, 1913, at 8:15 p.m., in her 79th years. She resided with her son,

James R. MARTIN, at Midway for fourteen years, until a year ago, when she

went to Chicago to reside with her daughters. Services were held at the

above address, 2 p.m., June 12, 1913. Interment in Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. Penina E. MARTIN was born July 17, 1834, in Pottstown, Pa.,

and was united in marriage to Aaron HOUT in 1851, at Lima, Ohio. This Union

was blessed with seven children, five daughters and two sons, four of whom

are living: Mrs. J. A.TAYLOR of Chicago, Mrs. D. M. HENDERSON of Chicago,

J. S. HOUT of Tulsa, Okla., W. W. HOUT of Cortland, N. Y. Aaron HOUT was

killed in the Civil War in 1864. After the Civil War she was again united

in marriage, to William MARTIN, in West Middlesex, Pa, to which union two

sons and two daughters were born, and all are living: Mrs. O. J. FREER,

Youngstown, Ohio; D. T. MARTIN, Pittsburgh, Pa.; James R. MARTIN,

Washington, Pa.; Mrs. Sophia EVANS, Chicago, Ill. Mrs. MARTIN was a member

of the Methodist Church all her life, being a devout Christian and most self

sacrificing to everyone in trouble. She knew no end of charity and

hospitality throughout her entire life, and the love and loyalty to her

children always was remarkable. Her sons and daughters all gathered at Her to sleep Chicago to administer the last sad rites to their beloved mother.
