Colon; Ernest (Pete) G. HUNT, 90, 125 S. Swan St., died Wednesday morning in Sturgis Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sunday afternoon.
He was born in Leonidas Township, Feb. 16, 1876, a son of Albert and Fidela (MILLARD) HUNT. For the last five years he had made his home with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Viola WEDEL, in Colon. He had spent most of his life in the Leonidas area.
He was married July 19, 1909, to Alice SNOOK. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1959. She died in April 1962.
He had attended the Leonidas schools. For many years he owned and operated a barber shop in Leonidas, and retired in about 1947. For 50 years he was a representative of the Vigortone Company, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Mr. HUNT had a great love for horses and raised and showed horses for many years in local fairs and shows.
He attended Leonidas Community Church.
Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ray (Bertha) FILLMORE, Mrs. A.B. (Gladys) SPROWL and Mrs. Viola WEDEL, all of Colon; and Mrs. Irvin (Belle) WAGNER, of Burr Oak; a brother-in-law, Howard SNOOK, of Axusa, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
His wife, a sister and a brother preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Schipper Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. in the Leonidas Community Church, with the Rev. Rudolph Burnson, pastor of the church, assisted by Lloyd Outman, officiating.
Interment will be in Leonidas Cemetery.
