Pete was the son of Sandy, Sr. and Effie Hunt Brooks. His first marriage was to Attie Mae Cummings. After Attie Mae's death, he married Annie Bell Oxendine Sampson.
The following was taken from the Mar. 3, 1974 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Peter Brooks, 71, died Friday night in Lumberton. Funeral services will be held Monday at the Bear Swamp Baptist church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. T. M. Swett, the Rev. Robert Mangum and the Rev. Michael Brooks conducting the service. Burial will be in the St. Anna Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Brooks; nine sons, M. L., James G., Dalton P., Ronald, Paul, Howard, E. Ray, Virl, and David E., all of Pembroke; one foster son, James Sampson of Pembroke; five daughters, Mrs. Lonnie Maynor of Ypsilanti, Mich., Mrs. Nettie Lowery, Mrs. Otis Locklear, Mrs. Marvin Lowery, Mrs. James Sampson all of Pembroke; one foster daughter, Mrs. Soloman Sampson of Pembroke; one brother, Joseph Brooks of Wheaton, Md.; and two sisters, Mrs. Margie Deese of Maxton, and Mrs. Effie Oxendine of Lumberton.
The body will be at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
