"Dr. Peter CAMPBELL, 30, came out with Shepton's party on the S.S. AURORA with his wife Sarah and two small children, Margaret and Sarah. Although born at Omagh, co Tyrone, Ireland, the family came originally from Scotland, and he claimed descent from the Duke of Argyle. His mother was Miss O'NEAL, related to Hugh O'Neal, Duke of Tyrone.

He married Sarah SANDERSON of Catlands, Cumberland, and a cousin of Capt. COOK the navigator. Dr. CAMPBELL obtained his medical diploma at the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, 1809, and practised in London until he joined Shepton's party of settlers. He practised in Grahamstown and died there in 1837. He was a foundation member of the Masonic Lodge, Grahamstown 1828.

Dr. CAMPBELL married secondly a Miss CUMMING.
