Previous transcriptions have misread "gestorben" as "born" instead of "died."

An Bible belonging to Peter Eby is at the Muddy Creek Farm Library. In it he lists his marriage on Feb. 11, 1830, to Maria Whistler, and the births of his children.

This Bible states: "Peter Eby starb den 4 September 1847 ist alt wurden 42 Jahre 8 Monat."

The Lebanon Courier, Lebanon, Pa., of Sept. 25, 1847, misreported the death of "John" Eby, on the 5th inst., near Campbelltown, age 44. Inscription: hier ruht Peter Eby gestorben den 4ten Sept. 1847, Sein alter 42 iahr 7 mon und 26 tag.

Here rests Peter Eby, died the 4th of September 1847, his age was 42 years, 7 months, and 26 days.
