https://guide.msa.maryland.gov/pages/Item.aspx?ID=SM2-8
He might be transported on the good ship King David by Francis Spoaner. George Gouldsmith payed for his transportation.
Peter Fucat (Fooket), was the first ancestor to immigrate to the United States of this line. This line is reputed to be of French Huguenot extraction in the "Chronicles of New England Settlers", this would support Peter being from France, and the time frame is when many French Huguenots came to America. He married Frances Mould (1675-1680). They inherited land from Frances father John
in no record is mentioned that Peter was a Huguenott. Land records only give his name.
Peter came to colonial America before the edict of Nantes was provoked.
- 9/23/2011 by V.M.- as cited under Josias Fugate, it is unclear who are his father and mother.

Then there is Peter Fugat, who was naturalized in 1681. Like the land of many settlers of the time, his 100-Acres tract "FRENCH PLANTATION" surveyd on January 22, 1673 revealed his Nationality. Fugat's land at Cathole Creek was doubled in late December 1685 with "Peter;'s Addition', a tract which was bordered by Swan Creek. Page 26, Most of the Frenchmen who came to Maryland were transported that is given free passage in return for a number of years of service. In order for foreigners to enjoy full participation and benefits in Maryland, provincial officials granted denization rights. In the middle 1660's the term changed to 'naturalization'. The Fugate Family of Russell County, Virginia by Dr. David Faris, Published by Gateway Press, Baltimore, Maryland 1986. Referance - Pg. 3; Peter Fooket was transported to Maryland in 1661/62, apparently of French origin. Fugate Family The FUGATE family were French Hugenots, that fled from France to England and then later to America. Hugenots were FRENCH PROTESTANTS, members of the Calvinist church or reformed church, communion of France, whose liberty of worship at first denied, was denied by Edict of Nantes (1598) and agawithdrawn, when the edict was provoked (1685) by King Louis XIV. Huegnot, means by night, so they worshipped by night, so not to be found out, to escape persecution, many French Huegnots then emigrated to England and stayed there, some others left England for the US.

The Fugate Family of Russell County, Virginia by Dr. David Faris was published many decades ago. Since then some more records have been found. The early settlers of Maryland by Gust Skordas only mentiond a Peter Fooket who was transported in 1662, no La Foucate.
Peter himself never used "La" in his name. All records show his name without it. There is no prove that he was of french nobility and if he was he wouldn't have been a servant. If Peter was of French nobilty, we would have found records about him. There was a French family which was of french nobilty. Nicolas Fouquet. But this is another family and line.

This is an incorrect information as Peter was the son of James and Ann not of Peter. My heritage is a collection of everything.people publish. Peter and Frances had only two known children: John and Ann.
All other children are hearsaying. And Josias was never a Captain. That was another Josiah who was born later.
There is no record with the name of Peter Fugate born on 15 Dezember 1651 in
