Peter Jones Sr was the son of Mounce Jones and Ingeborg Lycon. He married Elizabeth Henry or Huling or Lycon on 4 Jul 1714 in Amityville, Berks Co, Pennsylvania.

The Jones family was one of four large families which settled together in the Oley Valley. The Swedish enclave which arose in southeastern Berks County was mostly related to Jones through either blood or marriage.

The male descendants of Jonas Nilsson started with the patronymic of Jonasson, which became shortened to "Jones" and, in this form, became the family surname.

The children of Peter Jones Sr and Elizabeth include:

1) Peter Jones Sr (1715-1773) married Ruth Henton 2) Mounce Jones (1717-unk) married Margaret Yocum 3) John Jones (1720 - unk) married Sarah Griffith 4) Nicholas (1723 - 1767) married Judith Yocum 5) Andrew (1723 - 1767) 6) Mary Bell Jones (1725 - 1802) married William Henton 7) Elizabeth (1733 - 1830) married Cornelius 8) Ezekiel (1735 - unk) 9) Margretha/Magdalena (1738 - 1790) married Frederick Holstein
