Jost history has them immigrating from Gross-Heubuden to Molotschna in 1824. The 1835 Census states that they came to Russia in 1818. However, the Jost records also say that this Peter Jost was born in Prangenau, and there is no other Jost family in that village, other than this one. It is certainly possible that either the census or the Jost family history could be in error regarding the migration date. In fact, Peter Rempel does not record any Jost family coming to Molotschna in any year. The Gnadenau records say that he was born 29 Dec. Originally buried on Peter Jost farm (1 mi W, 1/4 mi S of Hillsboro); reburied in Hillsboro. The Jerry Barkman submission agrees that this Peter Jost was the son of Martin Gerhard Jost.
