About Peter Klapperich
Peter was born in the home area of the Klapperich branches in America; Mayen Koblenz in Germany's Rhineland. He is noted as the direct ancestor of four immigrant sons to the USA; noteably a family in Chicago and another family in San Francisco. The sons were Joannes Servatius, John Nikolaus, Peter Hubert and Josef. Of the Line Peter sons who came to the USA, John Servatius Klapperich b 1827 went to San Francisco and was a wagonmaker, built a business and patented new technology. His brother John Nicolaus Klapperich b 1824 went to Chicago and launched a wallpaper business that served the entire US. Peter Hubert Klapperich b 1817 went to White Pigeon Township, Michigan, and disappears. The final immigrant brother, Joseph b 1822 is difficult to trace. A German researcher traced the records of the immigrant brothers and we believe he marrried a Johanna. In the USA, tracing becomes difficult. He arrives 20 Jul 1846 on the Adamo ship from Kaltenborne with brother John Nicolaus, who goes to Chicago. But Joseph does not--where is he?
