About Peter Klompien

He is born in 1893 as Pieter in the town of Stadskanaal in the southeastern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, likely on board of his parents' ship, who are skipper Krijn Klompien and Afien Nienhuis, who died on 16 Januari 1895 in the city of Groningen at the age of 32 years.

On 1 May 1921 farmer Pieter Klompien (28 y) arrived with his stepbrothers Geert (24 y) and Jacob (20 y), both farmers too, on the SS Veendam at New York, Ellis Island. Their last residence place in the Netherlands was their parental home in the country village Ten Post, in the mid-north of the province Groningen and their destination is Manhattan, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana. Jacob has returned to the Netherlands, where he married in 1928 and died in 1988, but Pieter and Geert would stay in Montana.

In the end of March 1926 Peter and Jacob Klompien returned home in Riverdale in Illinois from the Netherlands, where they spent several months with visiting relatives and friends.In March 1927 Peter returned home in Montana from Riverdale.

Peter Klompien married on 13 November 1928 in his residence place Manhattan, Gallatin County at the age of 35 years to the one year younger Geziena Bolhuis, born in the country village Thesinge in the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, in which province Peter was also born, daughter of Aldert Bolhuis and Mina Van Der Woude, also residing in Manhattan. She immigrated in 1928.

Peter and Christina Klompien resided in the beginning of 1930 with their daughter Effie, less than a year aged and born in Michigan, in the Dutch settlement Holland in Gallatin County, later on called Amsterdam-Churchill. In 1935 the family lived also in Holland.

In 1940 farmer Peter Klompien (47 y) lived with his wife Sena (46 y) and their children Effie (10 y), Albert (9 y) and Clarence (5 y) in Holland too, at a rented farm on Amsterdam Road.
