There is a lot of confusion concerning the parentage of Jane (Mallory) Ingram and Peter Mallory. Many claim them as brother and sister, but they were not siblings.
Sir John Mallory is recorded as the father of Peter Mallory, but this was not Jane (Mallory) Ingram’s brother, as is often stated. He was her Uncle Peter, a younger brother to her father, John.
Peter Mallory did have a sister, Jane, but this was not the Jane Mallory who married Arthur Ingram. This Jane Mallory was Jane (Mallory) Ingram’s Aunt Jane, a younger sister to her father, John.
