My Grand-Uncle, Peter McKinnon, was born as the 4th child and 4th son of Archibald McKinnon, Sr., and Mary McKay McKinnon, on 7 Febrary, 1868, in Randolph, Utah. Peter grew to be a very prominent and well respected member of the Randolph community. He died of a "cardiovascular accident" on 15 September 1948.

The McKinnon Band

Peter and many of his brothers were members of the "McKinnon Band", which was a favorite in the community (See note 1).

McKinnon Bros. Dry Goods Store

Sometime in 1891, Peter and his brother, Robert, went into business together, under the name "McKinnon Bros." They owned and operated a very popular dry goods store, which played a central part in the growth of the Randolph and Woodruff community. In January of 1898, Peter decided to retire, and sold his share in the business to Mr. Peter Johnson, so the name of the business changed to "McKinnon & Johnson".
