Peter Scott (1952 – 2018)

Brief overview:

Peter (66), a farming consultant, was reportedly woken up at around 3 am after hearing a noise. As he walked down the passage to investigate he was shot by one of three armed men who had broken into the house.

The robbers then entered the main bedroom where Scott’s wife, Pamela, was sleeping. They tied her hands and tied her to a door before searching the house.

  • One man was tracked to Johannesburg and arrested and police and Magma recovered laptops and other items. He said the team then went to Ixopo where the second man was shot during his arrest. One unlicensed firearm and the deceased’s cell phone and other items were recovered

  • Mthembu was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 5 years for housebreaking with intent to rob, 15 years for robbery, and 8 years for unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition (taken as one sentence: resulting in a sentence of life sentence and 28 years imprisonment).
  • Mchunu was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for housebreaking with intent to rob, 15 years for robbery and 30 years for murder.
