Peter Semple was born on 5 February 1822 (a) in Dalserf, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK, son of John and Margaret (McNair) Semple.

He is the brother of Margaret (1820); Robert (1824); William (1826); Andrew (1829); Janet (1831); Alexander (1833); Thomas (circa 1836); Jean "Jane" (circa 1836); James (1840) and Agnes (1844) Semple.

On 28 Jan 1844, Peter married Janet Torrance in Dalserf, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Their 11 children are John (1846); Janet (1848); Margaret Muir (1849); Mary (1852); Gavin (1854); Jean "Jane" (1856); Agnes (1858); Christina (1860); Helen (1863); Elizabeth (1864) and Ellen (1867-1932) Semple.

He worked as a collier or coal miner.

On March 29, 1904, Peter Semple, age 82, died and buried in Swinhill, Dalserf, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, U K.

Footnotes: (a) Copy of his 1822 Baptismal Record of Birth has scribbled the month to look to some like "May" as appears on some references, however, inscription on his gravestone has Peter Semple died 29 March 1904 aged 82 years. The Baptismal Record appears to be as "Feb.y" where the month of February was abbreviated. If Peter was born in May 1822, would change his age to 81, whereas, born in Feb 1822 and died in March 1904, would correctly coincide with his age of 82 years.
