Obit from MOT Issue 18, 1980:
Husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Peter T. Voth, was born to Tobias and Julia Unruh Voth, on December 15,1895. He departed this life July 20, 1980, reaching the age of eighty-four years.
Father was born in Halstead, Kansas, and in 1904, moved with his parents to Coy, Oklahoma, where he grew to manhood. At the age of twenty-one, he accepted the gift of salvation and was baptized by Min. Peter Friesen, upon the confession of his faith.
In the spring of 1919, he moved to Montezuma, Kansas, where he met his life's companion, me, Lydia Jantz. We were married on December 31, 1922, and shared life's joys and sorrows for fifty-seven years. We lived in various places in Colorado and Kansas, moving to Scott City, Kansas, in 1943, living there until 1955, at which time we moved to California. This was our home until his death.
In life he suffered many difficult times, but provided for the needs of his family. His desire was not for earthly gain, often admonishing and living his life as an example. He was a kind and loving husband and father, showing special love and concern for his children and grandchildren. Most of his life he enjoyed good health, until recently, when his health began to fail.
We sorrow deeply, and yet with thankful hearts for Father's life as it bore testimony to the grace of God. Though tested and tried, he maintained his courage until the end.
He leaves to mourn: his sorrowing companion, Lydia; six sons and two daughters: David and wife Bertha, Fredonia, Kansas; Martin and wife Betty, Larned, Kansas; Irvin and wife Carol, Fredonia, Kansas; Donald and wife Joyce, Scott City, Kansas; Norma and husband Marvin Shafer, Garden City, Kansas; Lewis and wife Freda, Buhl, Idaho; and Leona and husband Jerome Kane, Winton, California; forty-two grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Giesbrecht, Brooksville, Mississippi; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Harvey; two grandchildren; three sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services were held July 24, at the Church of in Christ, Mennonite, Winton, California. Ministers John Wiens and Leon Koehn were in charge.
A short graveside service was in charge of Min. Greg Dyck. Burial was in the Winton cemetery.
