About Petrus (Peter) Gebert
Petrus lived through times of difficult transition, not the least of which was the Thirty-Years-War (1618-1648). Like many others in the German states of the early 1600's, Petrus latched on to the teachings of Martin Luther, leaving the Catholic Church to become a protestant. In the process, he changed his name from Petrus Gebhard to Peter Gebert.
