Phebe Colister

Although no name is giving, if the stone says 'wife of Robert' then this fits with his first wife, Phebe Sharpsteen, who we know died 11 Feb 1838. Mostly I see her name spelled as Phebe, but some sources spell it Phoebe. Her parents were John Henry Sharpsteen and Jane Simpson.

The Sharpsteens were a German family who settled in Dutchess County, NY but I am not sure if she was born there or in Cayuga County, where she was married to Robert Colister 10 Mar 1805. It is stated that she and Robert had 13 children. She died in 1838, either in Milford (Oakland County) or here in Bath, where she is buried.

Note re: Headstone.
Find-a-Grave volunteers noted that there is a base for a headstone next to Robert but the headstone is missing. This is likely Phebe's.
