Published in 1911 in Floyd's Genealogical & Biographical Annals of Northumberland County - p.720 this was said of Philip Schwartz(mis-identified as John Schwartz): Native of Saxony, emigrated in his youth, served throughout the Revolution in the Continental army. In 1803 he located at Reading, but returned to Sunbury where he is buried. His children were Hon. John, Francis Peter, Anna, married to Jacob Seitzinger, Mary married to John Ruch & Elizabeth married to Fred Haas.
Same book p.266 in the Haas Family sketch, this was written: Philip Michael Schwartz came to America from Wurtemberg in Colonial Days & served as a soldier in the Rev.War; he was at Valley Forge, was taken prisoner while in the service & was eventually exchanged. In 1798, Mr.Schwartz came to Sunbury & took up 600 acres of land at Beaver Meadows, where he remained the rest of his active life. He married Margaret Slosser. He was the father of the Hon. John Schwartz, who represented the 7th District of PA in Congress. He died at Sunbury & is buried in the old cemetery there.
According a book, "Revolutionary Soldiers Buried in Sunbury, PA" on p.11 it tells that Philip Michael Schwartz died on 9 Apr 1805 & is buried in the Sunbury Cemetery.
