- He was born on 4 January 1887 in Dedham, Massachusetts, and Katherine was born in Milton, Massachusetts.
- His father, Stephen M. Weld, was born in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts and had died in May 1919 in Boca Grande, Florida.
- His permanent address was on Saxon Avenue in Islip, New York, where he was employed as a cotton merchant.
- He resided in Liverpool, England from 10 January 1910 to 13 July 1910, and in France from 13 October 1919 to 21 December 1919 with the American Expeditionary Force.
- For their current journey, he and Katherine planned to visit England, France, and Belgium on commercial business, by departing from the Port of New York aboard the ship Aquitania on 2 November 1920.
