__________
Philippe de Lalaing, esquire, who, on March 18, 1453 (v. st.), although being "of the duke's hostel" Philippe le Bon, attended the festival of the Unicorn, given at Cambrai by the count of SaintPol, who was then ill-regarded at court, so much so that the duke had forbidden his people to appear at these jousts (Mathieu d'Escouchy, Chronique, II, page 239). He died of the plague in Marseille, around Christmas 1464, during the crusade of the great bastard of Burgundy.
