Philippus "Rudi" Botes (1957 - 2004)

Brief overview:

Rudi (47), was tied up and shot dead, execution style, on his farm Genade, near Bultfontein, Free State on 29th July 2004. Two men and two women were arrested. Captain Rosa Benade said police received a call from a woman saying 47-year-old Botes had been found dead on his farm, Genade. The four were arrested and charged with murder and armed robbery. The woman who originally called the police was one of those arrested.. Benade said Botes had also been brutally assaulted and his eyes were "cut and disfigured", she said.

  • Rudi was severely tortured before he was executed in his farmhouse. Botes' hands were tied with an electric extension cord behind his back after which he was tortured. He was apparently hit with a hammer and his eyelids were cut off. He was then he was shot dead while still bound.
