Phillip (47), was shot dead when three armed robbers invaded the family home in Gustav Prelier Street, Vorna Valley, Midrand, on 13th December 2005 at around 23h00.
The perpetrators tied up his wife, Lynette, and two young boys in another room.
Police spokesperson, Insp. Cynthia Kleinhans, said the robbers presumably gained access to the house via a sliding door. According to Kleinhans the suspects were armed with pistols.
Phillip had gone into the living room where struggle broke out between him and one of the attackers, who then shot him and he passed away moments later. Lynette managed to untie herself and the children and went to get help.
A reliable source said Nash was shot more than once at close range and that his body was found near the Christmas tree. An emotional Christine Walter, Lynette's sister, said the sons were badly traumatised. "Phillip was for them like 'a father of the year'," she said
