About Pierce Herring Wade
Pierce H. Wade was a member of 17th Ordnance.
He fought on Bataan and became a Prisoner of War on April 9, 1942.
He took part in the Bataan Death March and was held as a POW at Camp O'Donnell.
He escaped and fought as a guerrilla against the Japanese.
Wade received the Silver Star for raiding a Japanese Hospital and stealing medical supplies that saved the lives of his men who were suffering from malaria, dysnetery, and beriberi.
He was recaptured and tortured. He would later be sent to Japan on a hell ship and remained there until liberated
