About Placeholder Hodge

"Placeholder Harrelson Hodges" represents one of the named Harrelson sisters in Josiah Liarl Harrelson's will. It is unknown at this time, if she is Abigail, Susanna, Jane, or Mary Ann. Other sisters - Patience and Lucretia have known spouses. Some Ancestry.com trees and other platforms show the parents of Josiah and Susanna as Thomas Hodge and Abigail Harrelson and that may be true, but this researcher has found no tangible proof of which Harrelson daughter or Hodges male are the parents. SF

What is known:

The will of Josiah Liarl Harrelson notes grandson Josiah Hodge. It also notes land beside Thomas Hodge/s as indicated as a spouse of Abigail in some trees. Josiah Hodges and Susanna Hodges were known siblings by blood and oral tradition. That one of the daughters would have named a child for her father Josiah is a common custom for the region at that time. That she would have named a child for her grandmother Su Song AKA Susanna or Susanna as herself or a sister is also not uncommon for the time.

Additional scrutiny of the will of Josiah Harrelson, Sr. also places land inherited by his daughter Susanna adjoining land inherited by his grandson (and possibly her son) Josiah Hodge. This may further indicate that Susanna was the mother of the Hodge siblings.

Which one of the daughters of Josiah would have been the mother of the "grandson Josiah" and Susanna Hodges Alford? Still more research needed. Obviously, one of them is. SFG
