Polly Ann Rogers, daughter of John Rogers; sister of Captai n John Rogers, Cheif of the Western Cherokees, who served w ith General Andrew Jackson and was commissioned a captain b y this renowed American. To this union were born: Stephen Riley (Buck) (1873); Car l G. (1875), Olin T. (1878); Kirk L. (1887); Mell (1892); A udie Hedgecock, nee Lewis (1881). These two pioneer citizen s raised a family of prominence. Stephen Riley (Buck) Lewi s who married Elizabeth Bell Schrimsher (1874) a charmin Ch erokee girl, who is a daughter of Judge John G. Schrimsher . He possesses talent and marked energy; studied law by a c oal oil lamp and became an attorney of prominence in Tusla ; engaged also in the real estate business; owns a beautifu l pioneer home; Lewis Avenue one of the principal streets i n Tulsa is named in his honor. He desrrves much credit fo r perseverance and success, achieved under pioneer conditio ns in the Indian Territory where schools were few and prima tive.
