Chief forensic pathologist at the University of the Free State, Cathy Beukes (64), died from her throat being slit with an electric carving knife.

Bizarrely without waiting for police investigative reports, the court decided to place Prof Beukes' violent death in a 'holding' category until they have an actual ruling from the court inquest hearing to rule on the exact cause of death - stating - "The death of any forensic pathologist is always suspicious because of the knowledge of violent crimes they uncover every day."
