John Powers, a son of William Powers, was born at Princeton, NJ March 3, 1736 and died in Harrison County VA October 26, 1823. He married Prudence White in NJ in 1754. Prudence, a daughter of William White, was born in 1736 and died April 18, 1818.

   The family located on Simpsons Creek in Harrison County VA about 1771 and built Powers Fort there about 1773.
