About Pte. Albert Heke

lbert Heke was the son of Te Meera Matekohi and Te Werawera [David and Elizabeth Heke] of Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. During World War I he joined the 28 (Maori) Battalion, B Company, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force (Service No. WWII 802587). He was killed on action service in Italy on 18 February 1944 and buried in the Cassino War Cemetery, [VI. K. 19.].
