About Pte. Isaac Warren
Isaac Warren was born at Prebbleton in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island on 4 December 1886. His parents were Edmund Bone Warren and Christina Warren (née Quick) who had married in 1876. His father's first wife, Peggy, had died in Cornwall in 1875. Isaac signed up during World War I, serving with the Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion. Both of his parents had died by this time, Edmund in 1901, and Christina in 1907, so he gave his older brother Jacob Warren (1884-1947) as his next of kin. Isaac was wounded in action on 24 August 1918 and admitted to the No. 1 New Zealand Field Ambulance, before being admitted to the No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station in France where he died of his wounds on 24 August 1918. He was buried in the Bagneux British Cemetery [V. A. 36.] (bio by Debbie McCauley, 8 February 2024).
