About Pte. James Bevington Jeffery
James Bevington Jeffery was born at Dunedin, Otago in New Zealand's South Island on 12 February 1896. His parents were Thomas Samuel Jeffery and Alice Elizabeth Jeffery (nee Field) who married in 1883. James joined the Otago Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, during World War I (Service No. WWI 39245). He was killed in action at the Somme on 28 April 1918. James is remembered on the Euston Road Cemetery, [I. J. 3.] in France (bio by Debbie McCauley, 22 January 2022).
