About Pte. Joseph Bernard Marshall, [twin of Margaret]
Joseph Bernard Marshall was born in Christchurch on 6 February 1892 (reg. 1892/3600), the twin of Margaret and the son of Joseph Wilson Greenwood Marshall and Elizabeth Marshall (née Evans) who had married in New Zealand in 1885. During World War I he served with the Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion. He received a gunshot wound to the chest at Passchendaele on 4 October 1917. Joseph died of his wounds at the 10th Casualty Clearing Station in Rouen on 13 October 1917. He was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery [XXI. C. 16A.]. Bio by Debbie McCauley (29 June 2024).
