About Pte. Leslie Bennett Thompson

Leslie Bennett Thompson was born at Ashburton in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island on 4 January 1897. His parents were William Thompson and Margaret Maria Thompson (nee Bennett) who had married in 1893. During World War I Leslie served with the Otago Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion. He was wounded in action in Belgium, later dying of those wounds at the No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station. Leslie was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery [XXVII. DD. 20.].
