About Pte. William Pussell
William Pussell was born at Beaconsfield [Kiwitea Block] in the Manawatū-Whanganui region of New Zealand on 7 March 1884. His parents were Wilhelm Christian Pussell (Pössel) and Emilie Millicent Pussell (Hanker) who had married in Germany in 1863 and arrived in New Zealand on board the Reichstag on 17 August 1874. During World War I William served with the Auckland Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion. He was wounded in action and died of those wounds at the 44th Casualty Clearing Station in Belgium. William was buried in the Nine Elms British Cemetery.
