William M. Stephens was a Civil War Veteran. He was born on 10/11/1842.
Enlisted as a Pvt. in Company I (which became Co. E in 1862) 30th Regiment "Clayton Invincibles", CSA on September 25, 1861. He served along with his 4 brothers during the war.
He was wounded by a mini ball in his left heel, crippling him. While in service, he also contracted Typhoid Fever and developed blood poison.
William M. Stephens was married twice:
1st to V.J. Burks (1844-1877) married in 1872.
2nd to Cynthia Roxie Dickens (1849-1920) married in 1879.
William M. Stephens died on 10/2/1916 at the age of 73 and is buried in the Tanners Road Baptist Church Cemetery, Conley, Clayton County, GA.
