Henry S Reed, of Co. F, recruited man enrolled Sep. 22, 1862 in Stafford by Capt. Heath as a Private; mustered in Nov. 12, 1862 in Indianapolis by Col. Carrington at age 18. He was 5Œ 9 tall, light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair. Born in DeKalb Co., IN, employed as a farmer, single, resident of Jarvis, in DeKalb Co., IN. Drowned at Chattanooga, Jul. 14, 1865, in the Tennessee River with rank of Private. Notes: Son of Isaac and Harriet Reed. Actually 16 at muster in. Possibly illiterate. Sent to General Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN, Jun. 25, 1863. In Chattanooga Hospital Jul. 20, 1864, with chills and opthamalia. Left hospital on furlough Aug. 28 and returned to duty Oct. 1, 1864. Buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery, grave #198 (now Plot H 10632) indexed as Reid.
