About Pvt. John Buckmaster

John Buckmaster served in the Union Army during the American Civil War in Company C, 79th Illinois Infantry Regiment. He entered service on 19 Jul 1862 in Paris, IL and mustered in on 28 Aug 1862 in Camp Terry, IL. He was captured by the Confederates. He died on 14 Oct 1864 in Camp Sumter/Andersonville Prison in Andersonville, GA of Scorbutus (Scurvy) and is buried in Andersonville National Cemetery.
