Enlisted as a Private in the 13th North Carolina Battn. Transferred to the 51st North Carolina Infantry, Company G on April 15, 1862. Wounded on July 18 1863 at Fort Wagner, SC. Returned on September 1 1863. POW on June 1 1864 at Cold Harbor, VA. Confined on June 11 1864 at Point Lookout, MD. Transferred on July 12 1864 at Elmira, NY. Died of disease as a POW.
