OLD RESIDENT DEAD J. H. Bowman Passes Away at His Late Residence From Old Age
James Harvey Bowman, aged 79 years, died at 1403 Second avenue north yesterday morning. A. C. Bowman, C. E. Bowman, sons, and Mrs. G. W. Furry, daughter, and an aged widow survive him. The funeral will be held from the residence this morning at 10 o'clock.
Mr. Bowman was a member of Stevens Post, G. A. R., and a native of Pennsylvania. He had lived in Seattle since 1882. Old age was the cause of death. A fall which broke Mr. Bowman's hip a few months ago troubled him, and is believed to have hastened the end.
He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War in Company H, 11th Kansas Cavalry Regiment. He enlisted on August 21, 1862 at Topeka, Kansas and mustered in on September 15, 1862. He mustered out with his company on September 13, 1865.
