Wm. A. Harvey, aged 84, died at his home in this city, Tuesday evening Feb. 22, 1916, after a year's illness of nephritis. He had lived in Bates County for about 65 years, 35 of which he spent in Rich Hill, and doubtless was the oldest resident of the county. He was well known and highly respected citizen. He was a good man and lived a life of rectitude, and departs this life leaving only friends behind. The example of such life is a real aspect to those who knew him. He served in Company D and I, 6th Regiment, Kansas Cavalry in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
