About Pvt William James Garner, (USA)

Union Civil War veteran and member of GAR Post 44. He served in Company F, 7th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, part of the famous Iron Brigade. He was survived by his wife, the former Clara Worden. The Iron Brigade was assigned to the Army of the Potomac and fought in nearly every major engagement of the Civil War including Antietam, Fredricksburg, Cheancellorsville, Gettysburg, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Appomattox. They were present at the surrender of Gen. Lee and marched in the Grand Review in Washington D.C. Regiment lost during service 10 Officers and 271 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 143 Enlisted men by disease.
