R' Gamliel Lerman

Mitzy's real name was Esther. She was the daughter of Gamliel James Lerman (born 1881) and his wife Fruma Francis (b.1882). Gamliel was the brother of Arie Lerman and Shmuel Lerman. At the turn of the 20th century they immigrated to the US and settled in New York. They had three children: Esther Mitzy (b.1899), Abraham Yitzhak Isadore (1904), and Israel Sidney (1908).

Life wasn't easy. I suspect that due to an illness Gamliel had to go back to Jerusalem with Fruma and the three children were left with his brother Chaim David (in the picture) who was known as Herman (Born 1876), and his wife Merla Mary (born in 1876).

\"Chaim Gamliel passed away in 1911, and was buried in the Mount of Olives. After his death Fruma went back to New York and Chaim and Merla moved to Detroit.

Fruma lived with Esther but sadly the two boys were separated and moved somewhere else. But there's a happy ending: In 1925 Esther married David Cytryn from NTC and they lived Happily ever after.
