

Jacob Kaufmann, "retired rabbi" in Laupheim, was born on 24 May 1783 in Berlichingen, from 1808 to 1820, he served as rabbi of the community directory, and then in Buchau of 1828-31. In Laupheim he was a rabbi from 1 January 1835 to 31 December 1851. The Hebrew inscription shows that he served the community as a mohel, a clipper. He was "retired since January 1, 1852 with 365 f pension". He died after he was "ill for several months" was buried on 27 February 1853 "paralysis of the lungs" and was already on the following day "with above official doctor's permission, respectively. Arrangement due to nature of the disease."
