Author of the Masat Moshe. "Responsa in four parts of the Shulhan Arukh by Rabbi Moses Israel (1680-1740) Chief Rabbi of Greece and Alexandria, Egypt. Rabbi Israel was born and raised and educated in Jerusalem. He was sent as an emissary by the Jerusalem rabbinate to collect funds. He passed Rhodes where the community appointed him Chief Rabbi in 1714. In 1725, proclaiming that the community no longer followed his advice he left Rhodes. Shortly thereafter he was appointed Chief Rabbi of Alexandria Egypt where he remained until his passing. Rabbi Israel was the scion of a family populated by noted Rabbis for many Generations. "
