“John Coombs- First son of Joseph and Ann Coombs, - Born Nov. 5, 1754.”

“Rachel Pindell - Only daughter of Phillip and Rachel Pindell (his wife). Born Feb. 28, 1762 Married June 25, 1782.”

Joseph, born June 6, 1783, Phillip Coombs, born June 22, 1785, Jesse Coombs, born March 20, 1787, “Their fourth son, born Jan. 13, 1789 and died”. John Coombs, born Dec. 17, 1789, Edward Pindell Coombs, born Dec. 17, 1791, “Their seventh son was born Dec. 31, 1793; died Jan. 2, 1794. Their eighth son was born Dec. 26, 1794.” Nancy Coombs, born Dec. 13, 1795, “Their ninth son was born Feb. 23 and died Feb. 26, 1798.” Rachel, born April 1, 1799, Sarah Coombs, born Nov. 30, 1801, Shelby Coombs, tenth son, born May 4th, 1806, Graham Coombs, born Feb. 6, 1808. HCF Note: This is a photocopy of the Bible record of John and Rachel Pindell. A photocopy of the label states: THIS BIBLE (printed) is the property of John & Rachel Coombs (in handwriting). A copy of a typed abstract of these records, presumably by Fred Coombs, describes the Bible as “Printed by Matthew Carey, Philadelphia, Penn., in 1803.” This would account for why the handwritten entries are all in a very uniform hand, probably all written by the same person some time after the events, which may indicate an earlier source and/or make the record somewhat suspect. Also note that all children were probably born in Fayette Co, PA)
